CORNWALL, N.Y. (May 13, 2020) – Cornerstone Family Healthcare will deploy one of its mobile health vans into the City of Newburgh to offer additional COVID-19 testing for active infections and antibody testing for past infections. This effort, in partnership with the City of Newburgh, will expand access to testing to those most impacted in our community.
Testing will take place in the City of Newburgh on:
Anyone interested in being tested should call 845-563-8000 to reserve an appointment, but walk-ups will be accommodated.
“Access to testing continues to be a critical component in the fight against COVID-19. Research has shown that low-income communities and communities of color are being impacted far more significantly by COVID-19,” says Linda Muller, President and CEO of Cornerstone Family Healthcare. “We want to make sure that everyone – regardless of their insurance, employment or immigration status – has access to the testing and healthcare that they need.”
”We have been working around the clock to make sure the City of Newburgh provides its residents with the resources it needs to remain healthy and safe,” says Mayor Torrance Harvey. “The collaboration with Cornerstone is certainly welcomed and greatly appreciated. I encourage our neighbors to take advantage of the increased testing being made available this Friday and am grateful for all of the efforts that our partners at Cornerstone have provided to this great City.”
Newburgh City Manager Joseph Donat applauded the work of Cornerstone Family Healthcare, “The team at Cornerstone has gone above and beyond to help the City of Newburgh during these difficult times. This collaboration is a perfect example of how we can work together to make sure that everyone from our community has increased access to testing and healthcare.”
Individuals do not need to be a patient of Cornerstone Family Healthcare or have insurance to be tested, but they are encouraged to bring an ID and Medicaid or insurance card if they have one.
Tests will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The test type will be administered at the discretion of the provider. Results are not immediate. If you have a mask, please wear it for the safety of others and the healthcare workers.
The City of Newburgh wishes to remind its residents of following public health guidelines including personal hygiene, social distancing, and avoiding large public gatherings and events. While there is currently no vaccine to prevent this virus, simple steps can help stop the spread of this and other respiratory viruses:
Cornerstone Family Healthcare remains open to see patients for all of their healthcare needs. Patients may be seen in-person or through a virtual appointment. Telemedicine visits can be through video chat or a regular phone call. New patients are welcome. Current patients can schedule telemedicine visits with their regular doctor.
