Newburgh, N.Y. — August 12, 2026 — Cornerstone Family Healthcare partnered with the Regional Food Bank on Thursday, August 6, 2026 to host food distribution events at three of its health centers in Newburgh, Middletown, and Port Jervis in recognition of National Health Center Week.

National Health Center Week, observed August 2–8, 2026, celebrates the vital role Community Health Centers play in providing affordable, accessible, high-quality, and comprehensive primary care, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Community Health Centers also play an important role in addressing the broader health and social needs of the communities they serve.

In recognition of Population Focus Day, Cornerstone chose to address a critical need in the communities it serves by providing food assistance to patients and families experiencing food insecurity. Through its partnership with the Regional Food Bank, Cornerstone distributed 19 pallets of food, totaling approximately 20,000 pounds, at the three health centers.

Food insecurity remains a significant concern for families throughout the Hudson Valley. The need is especially important during the summer months, when children are out of school and may no longer have access to school breakfast and lunch programs. It is estimated that as many as 53,000 children across the Hudson Valley may experience food insecurity each day during the summer, according to the Regional Food Bank’s 2026 State of Hunger Report.

The initiative reflects Cornerstone’s commitment to supporting the health of the whole person – not only through high-quality, accessible health care services, but also by connecting patients with resources and community partnerships that address the broader factors that impact health and well-being.

Cornerstone Family Healthcare thanks the Regional Food Bank and all those who volunteered their time to organize, prepare, and distribute food to patients and community members.
