Cornerstone Family Healthcare completed purchasing the assets Wednesday of financially troubled provider Middletown Community Health Center, creating a behemoth multi-specialty medical practice for the region’s low-income patients.
Signing off on the deal were the U.S. Bureau of Primary Health Care, the New York Department of Health and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
The acquisition transforms nonprofit Cornerstone, of Cornwall, into a powerhouse, with 16 sites across the mid-Hudson and Southern Tier, $50 million in annual revenue, roughly 40,000 patients, just shy of 600 staff members and a projected 310,000 annual patient visits.
