Keeping Your Heart Healthy

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Every year, more than 700,000 Americans experience a heart attack.

A cardiologist is a doctor who specializes in treating diseases of the cardiovascular system — mainly the heart and blood vessels. They diagnose, treat, and work to prevent diseases of the heart— heart and vascular disease, heart attacks, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, congenital heart disease, and more.

Your primary care provider may refer you to Cornerstone Family Healthcare’s cardiologist if you are experiencing shortness of breath, heart murmurs, electrocardiogram (ECG) changes, or chest pain. Our cardiologist can then examine these symptoms to diagnose a condition and create an effective treatment or management plan.

Your cardiologist may keep working with you for a long time as they monitor your conditions.
