About Cornerstone Family Healthcare

We believe your health is the foundation of your life. Cornerstone Family Healthcare, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to providing quality healthcare to keep you laughing, learning, working, and playing at every stage in your life.

Care from the Heart of the Greater Hudson Valley

Cornerstone Family Healthcare is a New York State licensed health care center recognized by the Federal government. Cornerstone Family Healthcare also operates with the following designations: Medically Underserved Area (MUA), Medically Underserved Population (MUP), and serves in a Health Professionals Shortage Area (HPSA). The Joint Commission recognized Cornerstone for offering higher standards of care to its patients, a distinction that few Community Health Centers have received.

Although a significant number of our patients are enrolled in Medicaid and Family or Child Health Plus, most have their own medical insurance.

Cornerstone participates with a wide array of insurance companies. Our staff can help you and your family identify insurance programs you might be eligible for, and we also help you enroll in these programs. Our core mission is to provide primary medical services to anyone who needs our service regardless of their ability to pay.

At Cornerstone, we work very hard to provide the highest quality medical services at the most economical level of cost. Independent studies find that Medicaid patients’ spending at community health centers is 30 percent less than patients who see other medical providers.

Cornerstone Family Healthcare

Cornerstone Family Healthcare is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center with a mission to provide high quality, comprehensive, primary and preventative health care services in an environment of caring, dignity and respect to all people regardless of their ability to pay. For more than fifty years, Cornerstone has been responsive to meeting the needs of the communities in which we serve with a continued emphasis on the underserved and those without access to health care regardless of race, economic status, age, sex, sexual orientation or disability.

Cornerstone’s roots date to 1967 when four AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers, led by a passionate and outspoken civil rights activist, established a small health clinic for migrant farm workers housed in the Black Dirt Region of Orange County. Like the produce migrant workers helped grow, the then Pine Island Migrant Family Health Clinic grew strong roots and has since evolved into a mature, cutting-edge healthcare system now known as Cornerstone Family Healthcare.

Today, over six hundred employees provide care annually for more than 40,000 individuals and families. Cornerstone delivers services in Orange, Rockland, Ulster, and Broome counties.

FTCA Deemed Organization

This health center is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C 233(g)-(n). Therefore, Cornerstone Family Healthcare is granted medical malpractice liability protection through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), and are considered Federal employees with the Federal government acting as their primary insurer.
